ELENA LOSON

Elena Loson’s work explores the impossibility of returning to the starting point through drawing. Using powdered graphite and paper, the trade is a way of exploring the support, a way of thinking, tracing and inhabiting the space in which the remains of the procedure make it possible to open up to another journey: that of the time of drawing on the surface in which it moves and exists.

Loson was born in Rosario, Argentina, in 1980. She has a degree in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Palermo (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and a Master in Art from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She earned a Bachelor of Art degree in Philosophy from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and the title of National Teacher at Prilidiano Pueyrredón School of Fine Arts (Buenos Aires, Argentina). She lives in Santiago, Chile, where she also works as the Content Director of Nube Lab (contemporary art + education).

In 2021 she was awarded the 3rd Acquisition Prize by the Ministerio de Cultura de la Provincia de Santa Fe in the 9th National Biennial “Premio Ciudad de Rafaela” Atmósfera en Sitio, Museo Dr. Urbano Poggi, Argentina.

She was artist in residence at Soporte Común in Santiago, Chile (2020); Residencia Internacional URRA, Tigre, Argentina (2018) and Versus/Caja Negra Artes Visuales, Santiago, Chile (2012).
